EM Signal, Posting, and Earthquake UTC Times – December 11, 2011

The following are the actual UTC times for these events assuming that I did the calculations correctly.

2011/12/10 16:09:00 - Time that the strongest EM Signal was detected
2011/12/10 20:36:54 - My Earthquake Advisory was posted to this board
2011/12/11 01:47:26 - Mexico Earthquake Time

So, the main signal was detected roughly 7.5 hours before the earthquake. And my advisory was posted roughly 5 hours before the earthquake.

The advisory stated that other earthquake forecasters around the world should immediately check their own precursor data to see if they could identify anything significant. And had forecasters watching the Mexico area been able to do that then they might have been able to sound an alert and perhaps save a few of those lives.

That obviously did not happen. Part of the reason is that necessary communications resources don’t presently exist for effectively circulating warning information like that.

It might also be that no forecasters watching the Mexico area would have been able to see anything significant looking in their own data even if they had seen my advisory.

The main reason that there is no existing effective circulation system for warning information like that is because of all of the interference from earthquake forecasting skeptics. My new Earthquake Research Web site was established largely to make it possible to get around the many different types of roadblocks that those people keep throwing in the way of progress.

Finally, I have not yet run those EM Signals and the earthquake data through my computer programs and can’t say if the signals matched the earthquake. This delay is due in part to what appears to be some type of problem with the NEIS earthquake search program.

The NEIS program doesn’t seem to want to display any earthquakes when a search is run. I have never encountered that problem in the past. I wonder if they changed something.

These are personal opinions.
