Ocean crust at 2500 m |
Today we walked through the ocean crust from the mantle to the sea floor, at 2500 m elevation. There are nice ophiolites in California (e.g., Pt. Sal), but the pillow lavas here (France, near Italian border, are pretty spectacular. There is a geological trail and I, and HW, took each other's pictures standing on the Moho (crust-mantle boundary).
