Roger,

Two different subjects are being discussed here. Earthquake forecasting is one. Earthquake triggering processes is the other.

The earthquake triggering research can be quite helpful to forecasting earthquakes. But it is a separate science that can be investigated on its own.

And once again for the nth time,

Garbage in, garbage out!

Learning how to forecast earthquakes and determining how earthquakes are being triggered appears to be just like trying to open a safe that has a combination lock. If you know the combination you can spin the dial a few times, turn the door handle, and the safe will open.

If you don’t know the combination you can spin the dial for years and get nowhere.

Researchers are using the wrong equations when they try to determine how earthquakes are being triggered. They need to start with the equations that are discussed in detail on my Web sites.

I would need to ask the authors for permission to reference the publication involved, but one group of researchers went to amazing lengths with their statistical analyses to see if there were links between the moon position and earthquake occurrence times. They burned up a lot of computer electrons in the process.

And their efforts were in my opinion a success. They could show statistically that those links exist.

However, since they were using only the moon position and not even using the best equations for that type of work their correlations were not that great.

I told them that they could do much better by using my equations and both the sun and moon positions. But they were one of the groups that stated that my research was too advanced for them to try to duplicate.

So, getting back to the original post in this thread I am still planning on trying to see if the ISEP group would like to expand the work they are doing. If so then that hopefully encourage other researchers around the world to begin storing some of their data on a public Web site.
