Re: Amit makes a good point, but |
I agree to a point here. Having lived in southern cal for some 44 years, I have seen and felt quite a bit of shaking. I have witnessed the somewhat mistaken idea that weather can effect quakes. Case in point from about October to February or March if we have a hot spell or Indian Summer, many say we are going to have a quake. And sometimes we do. The question is then why or is their a connection? Hence my comment on barometric pressure which has been shown in tests to have a direct effect on the surface of California, enough so to actually depress or release pressure on the ground, hence the possible trigger for a quake. One study showed that in about 60% of the time when this weather pattern occures, we have a quake. Most are small and may not be significant. The Northridge Quake fell in this time period and the weather was mild. Whatever we do, please do not stop observing and asking question. As I told my student in school, the earth is always changing. Observe it, enjoy it, question it, learn from it and take pictures!
