Bob, good points. I did not mean to dicosurage speculation. It makes it a bit scientifically more interesting to know what comments are based on if not obvious. There was a paper published in a prestigious journal (probably Journal of Geophysical Research solid earth)by a well-known atmospheric scientists relating, I think, air pressure to earthquakes, probably southern california. This was probably closer to 20 years ago than 10.

Yes, the air pressure from an intense storm like the blizzard a couple weeks ago was about like the effect of removing 2/3 of a meter of water from a reservoir. In areas that are extremely sensitive; I think itw as Monticello researvoir in south Carolina (??), 1 m changes in water level were associated strongly with seismicity. This may be fluid pressure in joints rather than just the weight, or both. But, these were probably very shallow quakes.
