Each one of us knows better. We've been given a paradise here. We could have a wonderful existence given our intellectual capabilities to harness energy and grow clean food; living in a truly sustainable fashion. However, it's never going to happen. When the "developing county" is focused on making it to next week/month and the developed country only cares about next quarter's earnings and profit report, it's futile.

We really fail to live up to our potential. After years of dealing with people in the legal business (which I am soon leaving), I still cannot figure it out. What is it? Some innate need for conquest on whatever level, biological, social, political? Is it just pure megalomania?

From my observations, I believe that our need to expand and accumulate stems from a fear of mortality. And, our anonymity in this place makes the exploitative measures of accumulation all the more easier. There is no more shame and there is no more accountability.

This thought process is something I grapple with constantly in redefining my life's work.

So, maybe my sentiments are a little off the chart for the EQ board. But, what the heck.
