computer woes

hrrrmmmmph...Roger, you're not alone with computer fun!!!

I go to turn on my computer this morning and .... nothing. Likely the motherboard. It may be only two years old, but it was usually running 24/7/365. However, for the past few weeks it's been being turned on only when I need it. The stress of power cycling probably got to it. Good thing I have a 2nd machine. Only thing was, it wasn't set up for going online. Sooooo...it's taking me hours to get there. ack...

But, I'd like to crow about how easy it was to copy EVERYTHING in Firefox from the old drive to the working computer. All I had to do was copy the entire profiles folder and VOILA!!! It's like I'm on the old machine. All my bookmarks, history, preferences....EVERYTHING is as they were on the other system.

Now to do the same for a bunch of other software....Thunderbird (the same method as Firefox), XNews (easy, just copy the entire install folder and make a new shortcut), Mailwasher (copy spam filter files), Etcetera. Etcetera. Etcetera. (imagine Yul Brenner from The King and I)

I'm glad I had two machines. (whew)

Brian
