submarine slide

We are "driving" up a deep-seated submarine landslide whose back-tilted blocks are visble in the French multibeam bathymetry when viewed in 3D. It is a "young" slide but no reason to think it is from the recent quake. Then we will run two profiles just below the extremely sharp shelf break from the SE part of Gonave Island and along the reef that is probably a continuation of the Gonave Island anticline. We hope to see tilted and subsided glacial period coastal terraces from the south limb of the giant anticline.

I have not posted yet on the coring that is being lead by Chief Scientist Cecilia McHugh. I have not stayed on top of this even though on other projects I have been heavily involved in siting of cores. The corers have some interesting results. I'll talk to Cecilia and then post.
