Following is a summary list from the USGS quake database. As you can see there were 12 quakes of mag 6+ between October 1979 and October 1999, roughly one every 20 months. Although if we decluster for related events then there were only 9 events in those 20 years which is roughly one every 26-27 months.

It has been 123 months since the last one.
