That is indeed the challenge. The human brain seems prewired to search for patterns to the point of seeing them when they don't exist.

But even so, as this thread has made us all aware, it has been an unusually long time since the last SoCal M6+. The hard part is we don't know if this is normal or not. Could be a 'quake shadow' from all the activity of the 90's. Could be a statistical outlier. Could be we're about to blow.

If there is one thing that's certain, it's that the future isn't.
