How well I know. I've been evaluating earthquake predictors for years, first for the USGS and then as a hobby after I retired and in all that time I've never been able to convince any of them that they are wrong.

But getting a few hits is easy. It's what keeps them going. Simply make a lot of predictions, trumpet the hits and forget the misses.
