YUP. Totally agree. I always predict a 3.0 or greater quake in California within the next month. I'm almost always right---but it proves NOTHING and helps nothing..and is based upon nothing but the fact that California almost always has an earthquake that size every month.

If you haven't read the "Black Swan" by Nassim Taleb, you might enjoy it. He writes (often humorously) about the ways in which we like to predict things, the fact that we are often totally wrong, and our need to do so. Earthquakes, etc. are one of his "Black Swan" events that have huge impacts.
