Re: More water main breaks - now more wide spread |
Tony-not sure if you are in LA or not, but Canie have you seen the local news? Since TOny's first post on this subject I started to pay more attention. And now all our local news stations have been reporting on this regurlarly. They claim that indeed there have been more breaks, but if I recall they seem more concentrated in the Valley and West Los Angeles than anywhere else. The city has been having emergency hearings over it, the head of LADWP or something had to step down because some blame him for all this. The city and LADWP is claiming the pipes affected are pretty new and well maintained and do not have an explanation for why the pipes are breaking. There has been no incenuation or hint however in local news about any link to quakes with all this. My question for any of you, why do you think or theorize breakage in pipes is a possible sign for a quake? I thought we drew our water from an acquaduct in the Sierras, and, therefore the water running through the pipes was a constant variable, is this wrong?
