December 20, 2008 The latest version of this project is close to being fully operational. The main computer program has been running for some time. The Web site where it will likely be stored is up and running. What remains is to get the copyright material finalized and a general explanation and instruction file prepared. I am hoping to have those matters settled within a few days.

It is my recommendation that for your own benefit and the benefit of other people, you and anyone else who might be skeptical about this project avoid posting any additional comments regarding the effort until the freeware computer program is available for downloads and you can see for yourself how it works.

Program users will need a regular PC type computer running some Windows version going back to Windows NT. The program itself will run on Windows 98 or ME. But the routines it uses to activate other programs apparently don’t work with 98 and ME. And I decided not to spend additional time right now on programming around that limitation as most of the serious researchers who will be running the program are presently likely using XP or Vista.

Most people are probably of the opinion that the success or failure of an earthquake forecasting program could mean the difference between life and death for tremendous numbers of people around the world. The notes posted here are permanent publications of a sort. And if you state here that some forecasting program is not going to work and if you are not an expert on what it does or how it works then in the future people might wonder why you made those comments regarding such an important matter.
