FFA's ----Not Predictable

Howdy.

I didn't just get off a slow boat from somewhere. I've studied some of this earthquake stuff for many years. It is my opinion that there is no way to predict where a far field aftershock will occur. Too many variables in the geologic structure of the various fault zones, and little or no understanding of how teleseismic events can unlock a fault into failure. Do FFA's happen? Yep. What I am saying is that there is no way to know WHERE they will happen.

I guess the best way to think about it is how many 8+ magnitude quakes have happened since the SAF ruptured----1906---San Fran? And how many more will occur before Coachella Segment goes? Nobody knows. Kinda like swatting a swarm of house flies with a cane rod. Sooner or later you are going to hit one. And then take credit for a hit? The number of quakes will always overwhelm the predictors. The quakes just keep coming, predicted or not.

It's a big planet, and it doesn't behave. No use in spanking house flies.
