Aloha,

I'd talk about all the things you mention, tied into the China earthquake being a thrust eq, and remind everyone that Northridge was also a hidden thrust fault and that there are bound to be many others lurking beneath the L.A. Basin. You could tie it into the oil drilling just east of the Palos Verdes Peninsula (Inglewood?) where they have all the oil wells you can see from the 405, but then people might think that that was the only place of danger, which is a fallacy.

The venues I'd turn to are the Los Angeles Times and whatever the San Diego main newspaper is. I'd strike while the iron is hot, i.e., now.
