Sorry about that, Jim. I'd completely forgotten about Sugarfoot. Neither of my parents, to my knowledge, were ever involved in that show. But my dad did discover James Garner. Introduced himself as Jim Bumgarner at the Cock 'n Bull bar where my dad hung out. Dad told him to lose the Bum, call himself James, and come see him the next day at his office at Warner Bros. James did and the rest is history, as they say. Funny thing is that Garner is magnitudes more famous than my dad ever was. He's still kicking. Doing well at 94. Living a quiet life in Newport Beach with his wife of forty years and my step sister. He's almost deaf, but vanity prevents him from wearing a hearing aid. Go figure.
