Major cyclone (hurricane) Bangladesh
|

A mojor cyclone (name for Indian Ocean hurricanes) is about to hit Bangladesh. Its sustained winds have decreased to 130 knots (probably 145 or 150 mph). The storm surges of cyclones in this area are high and the land is low. There have apparently been millions evacuated, and I think there are platforms or something on some of the low islands to get people above the flood. In the past, there have been 100,000 or 100s of thousands killed by storms like this. Hopefully between evacuations and raised shelters, it will not be too bad this time. See the link for a satellite image.
