news this AM reports many fatalities...>500. Probably will go much higher. Bangladesh is the country that I think of as being worst off with a 1 m sea level rise (might take 100 years for that much rise). Parts of it are sinking faster than sea level is rising, so the relative sea level rise for the delta area of Bangladesh (a large part of the country) would be (much?) higher (same case as New Orleans)....it needs river floods to build up land to keep land surface above sea level. In Lousiana, the levees cause most sediment to shoot off into the deep Gulf of Mexico.
