Oh sniff...I SO miss the old days and doing field work---so do it while you still can. I remember some gypsum crystals in a cave near a Death Valley mine---splendid! Right near a road with a sign that said "No Matter where you go, there you are." No truer words. I understand that the San Andreas is a bit like a skinny, rather thin snake and can lean in many directions, and so can the attending faults. Geology is so messy at times! I used to compare the ground in some areas to marble pound cake---sometimes the layering makes for unusual configurations! Sigh---rainy cold day here and getting nostalgic!
