I passed through Poleta (that's in the range east of the Sierra...White Mountains or Inyo or something? I was traveling with a geologist and he visited his post-doc supervisor who was running the field camp there. We camped a little higher. The low air pressure made our bag of chips explode when we opened it (sort of). As for who runs Friends of Pleistocene...I'd Google it: it may be a pretty informal group with different geologists running different trips...they may decide the next trip around the fire of the previous trip. I've been only to 2 or 3 of these.
