Congratulations Al Gore

My congratulations to Al Gore. Take note of what he said: "the climate crisis is not a political issue, it is a moral and spiritual challenge to all of humanity."
I'd say it is not a political issue, it is a science issue. As part of the coverage they showed that ignorant U.S. scientist from Oklahoma Imhofe (sp?) asking Gore (some time past) whether the 1000s of geologists who don't believe this are wrong. Gore, who also has been a politician, skirted the answer and said that the UN climate panel approved some statement by 100%. I would come right out and say, yes, these geologists are both wrong and ignorant. Ignorant does not have the same meaning as stupid. They may not be stupid...they must have passed mineralology somehow. Ignorant means poorly informed. Poorly informed can mean that information is available to someone but they make poor choices on what information to take in. I was stunned last year to realize that, yes, there are large numbers of petroleum geoscientists who do not believe global warming/climate change: I talked to some of these directly. These are not, however, research climate scientists. Its simple physics that has been known for 100s of years (greenhouse effect). It is simple measurement of CO2 in the atmosphere, and comparing it to levels in the climate record (for example, ice cores). People who say that increased CO2 is not going to have an effect really look foolish to me.

Anyhow, now that Peter Jennings and Tom Dibblee have died, Al Gore is probably the person I respect the most.
I put a few compact fluorescent lights in...but we put off the solar panels for a couple reasons...one being that we do not use enough electricity to make it worth it, and because we are having other construction done on the house that might damage the panels. I've almost stopped driving while in the heartland, but I use mass quantities of CO2 when I drive and fly to get to California for work, and when I'm playing hockey I drive quite a distance, and rinks this far south use a lot of energy to keep ice.
Chris
