Brian...I like that Swift quote...think I'll email it around. I did not get any answers or comments on how fast the Greenland ice sheet might melt. I have other questions...like whatever happened to Gaia...the self regulating earth. Now it is all runaway positive feedback. By the way everyone: I do think global warming is a serious problem and we need to address it now. But, I think if the worst-case scenarios are reported like they are the most likely, then the problem will end up not being taken seriously. Change in people's behavior is something that has to be sustained for decades. By the way, I find it kind of interesting/kind of sad that I have good intentions, was raised to not waste, etc, but as the years go by the house I live in gets bigger, my cars get bigger, I drive and fly more...so all the little things I might do are insignificant (although the largest car we have, a Camry, can get 30 miles/gallon on highway). We intend to put serious solar panels on the house that we close on in a few weeks...but we shall see if we follow up.
