Hi Canie,

Thanks for posting that news article. I find this very interesting. First of all, Topozada is the person who received my damage assessment report for the quake in Sept 99. Secondly, David Schwartz is the only person who really knows the Rodgers Creek Fault that well, and does he mention it in the story? No. It is highest ranked in the Bay Area to have a large quake and there's no mention at all. Why Not? Quite simply because it is not in a major metropolitan area.

If and when the RCF goes the consequences to this area are going to be very broad. First of all, they expect all of the bridges and overpasses in this area will be down and we will be virtually cut off for a goodly period of time. That means getting assistance is going to be very difficult. If the airports are still in good order, we can get maybe a DC3 in Santa Rosa, but that's it. The damage here to property will be very great indeed and we aren't so far from other area's that will have intense shaking during the quake.

Liquifaction is going to be one of the greatest concerns. The intense shaking around the bay will cause problems in a much greater degree than Loma Prieta.

We may be north of the bay, but we aren't that far away, surely not far enough to be ignored.

Petra
