Dear Petra: My message was not meant to be negative. Perhaps my choice of words made it appear that way.

I also believe that it will be possible to predict earthquakes some day. I only suggest that maybe a whole new look at this may be needed. If we only use the common theories, many of which can not be proven, it limits us.

I would be interested in what you heard 2 1/2 hours before the quake. A 2 1/2 hour lead time would be a great help. No doubt enough time for most to make it to a clearing and enjoy the ride.

If you knew before the event, what was your confidence level?
