Don, I disagree with you on the Seismic Gap Theory having anything to do with subduction zone events. I believe it was Max Wyss' hypotheses in regard to strike slip events, not subduction events. While I will agree that in regard to the San Andreas Fault System, the Gap certainly is tenable, but not for subduction events. I still have some feelers out for the correct answer to the question and when I get a response from someone who is a true subduction event scientist, I'll advise what I learn. My main concern is that if the earthquakes off of Victoria prior to the Olympia quake are not related, then we might be looking at another subduction event in the Victoria area, which of course could be serious depending on two factors, a. the depth of the quake or b. the infrastructure. After all, we can't always agree about everything, right?
