Hi Petra. JOB gave me part of the information I was looking for. The 1949 Olympia quake was a subduction quake. Just four months later an 8.1M hit about 500 miles away, north of Vancouver Island, and was called the Queen Charlotte quake but the Queen Charlotte quake was a strike-slip, like the San Andreas movement. It's also interesting to note that both quakes occured in JOBs seismic window theory.
