Nice forum

Barbara,

This is the one forum where I can ask the very best scientists questions about earth science. I am just a very dedicated person who studies the geology of the Salton Trough. The predictions that I make here are just a fun side bar to the more important study of geologic formations. I do have questions about the block structure and the related microseismicity that occurs in the area.

As for the Grand Canyon...That is old, really old. I hiked from South Rim down the Bright Angel trail back in 1970 to the bottom. I saw fossilized impressions in the rocks down there. Don't know the technical name for those, but an impression of a sea creature which lost animate motility and came to rest in the sand, was compressed, and left an eons long foot print on reality.

So my questions or comments have nothing to do with Bush, religiosity or creationist folly. How old is the Grand Canyon? My answer; as old as the orogenisis of the Colorado Plateau. Comment?

Glen
