Location: none - Lat: 34o 26' 20N - Long: 118o 31' 22W - Range: see belowMagnitude: see below - From: 1/21/01 1700 - To: 1/31/01 1700

Test using information from post #4000.

Earlier this evening I received a signal for an M4.2 +/- .7 in magnitude. The signal had a short duration so it may very well be for a location outside of my local area. In fact it will probably occur outside of the ranges noted below at a much larger magnitude.

Normally I would let a signal of this magnitude pass by as the lower limit of the magnitude would be 3.5, but I noticed a few other factors that is prompting this post to see what happens. The first is our dog is acting up again (this especially for you MW), secondly the electron flux has been in a decreased state over the last two days, and thirdly a band of rain coming in seems to be keeping a circular pattern outside of the LA basin as shown on the Intellicast Santa Ana loop radar. Appears to be currently over Ventura.

Again, this may not be in California due to the duration of the signal, but I'll go with the following particulars:

Time window: now until 1700 1/31/01 UTC

Magnitude vs range in miles:
From 0 to less then 101 miles 3.5+
From 101 to less then 226 miles 3.8+
From 226 to less then 451 miles 4.1+
From 451 to less then 701 miles 4.4+

Ranges are from Saugus, California located at:

Latitude 34o 26' 20"N Longitude 118o 31' 22"W
34.43877N 118.52272W

Based on the short duration, I'll give this a 70% chance of occurring within the above parameters.

Waiting to see what happens,
Dennis
