Wow - you and Brian just won't give a guy an even break! Even though I sit on the shoulders of giants, I must admit that, even from that height, I do not observe the actual acceleration. But I infer it - correctly, I think, since, almost by definition, an object (at the macroscopic level, anyway) which changes locations has undergone acceleration in order to do so.

Must I keep thanking my tormentors?
