Technical Depth Question
Posted by Glen on October 07, 2006 at 00:16:57:

Hello,

I am wondering how seismologists determine the depth of a quake that occurs in a volcanic peak. As an example, let's say there is a magmatic movement within Mt. St. Helens about half way to the top. How would the depth be determined? As an addon Q, can there be a negative depth earthquake because the quake happens above the surrounding land form? Somebody here knows the answer. Appreciate any info on this. And thanx before hand...

Glen
