Let's Talk New Zealand |
Hi All, I see both ends of New Zealand have had a moderate shake this week and you have to wonder, why is that? As they are going into their summer, we are about to enter winter. Did you ever notice how earthquakes usually come in the driest months, rather than the wettest ones. That's interesting because you'd think with all of that water going into the ground, there would be more slip. Also, so often after a quake, it rains. Could it be from particulant matter in the atmosphere that brings on these rains, like cloud seeding? When I saw the New Zealand quakes on the global list today, I wondered how it would be if both LA and SF had earthquakes within a few days of each other. Would it create mass panic, everyone thinking that CA was indeed going into the sea and what would people do? A seismologist told me there was a study done that showed people were not ready for earthquake prediction because they couldn't handle it emotionally. I have no idea when that study was done and what the parameters of it were, but I surely would like to know a bit about it. Anyone got any ideas about where to find it? Let me know. So as you've seen from the above, there are so many questions we can ask about so many things, but few offer an explanation to these questions. Science is interesting because it presents many questions, however, few who are knowledgeable enough to answer them. This affects other occupational groups as well, not just scientists. Attorneys are that way as well. Everyone is an expert in giving advice, however, few are qualified. As always, I am the seeker on the path of knowledge, looking everywhere for the answers and know, somewhere out there, someone knows.
