Will The Real Nutter Please Stand Up

Hi Cathryn,

You're really too much. But you're the brainy one. Gosh a member of Mensa and a Pulitzer Prize winning writer is really something to be admired. I surely will never hold a candle to you. I know I don't have the brain capacity you have and I seriously doubt I'll ever see any kind of award for writing. I'm really in the junior class there. I'm more of a creative expressive person who likes to get out and talk to people, make friends, bake cookies for those I care about and that kind of thing. You've known me long enough to know I have such a curiosity about everything. Just put a how-to book in front of me and within minutes how-to becomes, wow, done. I love it. From learning how to knit and crochet on my own, carpentry and I can even read Tarot cards when I feel like it. I guess one would say I'm a June of many talents, but not an accomplished person in some.

Did you ever listen to the Radio Nexus interview? I didn't think it was that good, but so far everyone who heard it is telling me they liked it. As you know we are always so critical of ourselves. We Cappies have a hard time being normal, easy going people. We strive like no one else and gosh I know we annoy too. Lowell is the exception though. He works really hard, but he never annoys. I can still see him in my minds eye taking a walk with Zima and telling us about it and I enjoyed those stories so much.

I met a really cool geologist yesterday at the site where they dug a hole in the Hayward Fault. He's doing an exhibit at the USGS office next weekend on mining in Sonoma County. The world is such a small place. We got some good photos too that I can put up on my web site. This is another one of those Centennial Alliance projects. It's is supposed to close 6/15, but might be extended to 9/15. But he said finding volunteers was really difficult. If I lived closer and knew about the need I would have been there and really loved doing it. I have volunteered to do geo-tours at Mammoth for next season and will try to work out something for Angel Island too. I love both places and despite the long drive to Mammoth that will be so much fun. Another friend of mine who is a geologist said he would teach me what I needed to convey to the public and then I'll be ready to start. There is nothing so fun as geo-tours and sharing what I've learned from school and my own explorations with people who enjoy the outdoor experience and geology too.

Of course, much of this depends on whether or not I stay in the Bay Area. I am hoping to move elsewhere in the near future. Either to LA or perhaps back up to Seattle, but I'm not planning on being here any longer than I have to. I'm sorry too that times being what they are that we never got to meet each other. I'm probably one of the few people in the world who loves to move. I get bored easily and I can't learn any more about the RCF or this area in general. I've been everywhere and done everything. I'm leaning toward LA so I can be near my daughter and that's where I grew up anyway, so it would seem more like home and it's a whole lot warmer than Seattle in the winter. Less rain too. But job opportunities will make the final choice for me I guess.

So who's the nutter? Is it me? If so, send me an e-mail and let's discuss the diagnosis. Maybe you'd like to offer your services as a non-professional at reduced rates? Or a self help Guru? That would be cool too. God knows I would learn a lot from you. However, I do think my availability is going to be short term as I have a lot of projects in the works and much to finish before I go.

Cheerio!

Petra
