Don't know. That's a major problem in getting any consideration by science.

It's an observed correlation.

Don't know. But people's sensitivities to stimuli does vary.

They're working on that. So far, not enough examples.

They only seem to hear tones from certain areas. Or let's say they have only established that certain tones correspond to certain areas.
