Re: "How" perigee/syzygy is triggering the big quakes in California |
Hello Mr. Cooper, Well, there's only one way to find out what the USGS thinks about your summation, send it to them. I would suggest you send the link to your site to Dr. Andrew Michael and ask him if he agrees with you. We all have ideas of our own on any given segment of earthquake prediction. Jim Berkland has been making his predictions on Lunar and Tidal data for years. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Even when he uses everything he knows, which I assure you is considerable, he still has misses. But I give him credit for his efforts. I'll give you my two cents, because I've asked so many in the science community what their opinions are and they have been more than generous with their responses. Keep in mind, these are my thoughts based upon what I have interpreted from what I heard. My summation: There is absolutely no one single facet of data that is the ultimate answer to predicting earthquakes. Not lunar or tidal data, not GPS, not seismo tech, not animals, not people, nada, nothing in a singular variety is adequade. However, let us not throw the baby out with the bathwater either. This is the message of hope. Credit should be given to those who have earned it. I have not yet encountered one single seismologist who has not contributed to the furthering of education and data that in the end will be part and parcel of the solution to prediction. The answer is already here. Its been here for a very long time and though some might chose to argue this with me, I'll tell them to get the '.." out of my way, because one day, its going to arrive, come ... or high water. I have been as close to the solution as I think anyone in modern times and seen it take a back seat to unimportant ego's. But one day, it won't be that way, and someone who has the guts to stand up, roll up their sleeves and get to work on this life saving effort will arrive. I'm still looking for that person and I do know, I'll find whoever it is. But this time, having had considerable experience, I'll make sure the ego has a firm place outside this vehicle and that only one who gives consideration to others in front of themselves should be considered. Your contribution is quite good. But as I pointed out earlier, you can send it to the USGS, but unless you send it to someone who knows their work, then don't expect a reply. There is no challenge, except to find those most willing, the funding and a desire to see people survive, more than anything else.
