Marguerite sent me the following article for the Earthwaves Board

I am 89 years old and live with my daughter and son-in-law part time throughout the year in coastal Maine. I am concerned something is up. The usual high level of bird activity that usually abounds has diminished drastically. Bird feeders that are usually empty in a day haven't been touched. The suet feeders for the wood peckers are still full. Both squirrel and chipmunk activity is zip too! Both the kitchen window and my bedroom window face the woods. I so enjoy gazing out either window and watching the lovely birds, chips, and squirrels. I am crestfallen about the lack of activity. This has been going on now for about 5 days or so. Maine does get earthquakes. Perhaps this lack of activity indicates something?

I know ant activity in my house in the San Fernando Valley usually signals a tremor or two is on the way. I experienced the Northridge quake in 1994....lots of damage. I also experienced the Long Beach quake in 1933 as a young newlywed caught all alone in a grocery store. I was the only one that did not make it out and my husband was frantic. Well, I must be a survivor! My daughter tells me not to worry....the Maine house is on granite ledge. This is my first time sending a message on the internet. My grandson has been helping me. Hope this information is helpful...just in case something is brewing in the North Atlantic area. Thank you for your patience and time.
