Re: My Prediction For Earthquake Prediction |
Hi Cal. Sometimes people will tell you what you want to hear and then there are times some people will only hear what they want to hear. If it fits into their frame of mind they will hear it, if it doesn’t they will reject it by saying something like those people don’t know what their talking about, or that they are ignorant. They tend to attack the person and not the data they present much in the same way that you are doing now. All I ask is that when a quake prediction is made is that it be site specific. Anything less then that isn’t useful. Too many studies have been done about Jim’s predictions and they show quite the opposite of what Jim claims. If you had done your homework you would have seen that. You selected only that which supported your way of thinking. That is only natural. We all have a tendency to do that. I hope the book is a best seller, but a year from now most of the people that read it still won’t be ready for the next major quake. If they aren’t ready now they will never be ready and no book is going to change that. When ever I talk to people here in Hollister about the next major quake I’m told that there are more immediate things that need to be done that are impacting their lives now then to worry about a quake that may not occur in their lifetime. There are people who have trouble getting from one day to the next and that is their chief concern. One person even went as far to tell me that a major quake would be a blessing in disguise. I’m still thinking on that.
