Ross Stein gave an excellent talk Friday at Lamont. I took quite a few notes on it because it is of interest to this page. It was on past large earthquakes in Tokyo and what is coming. I had to just go and check whether posting this was fair, but see that his report is his web site, which is linked. They calculate that there is a 33% chance of severe shaking in the next 30 years in Tokyo..severe meaning 0.75 g or greater, which would knock you over...you would not be able to stand. We'll see if Don wants to post some highlights...I may add to that later..
