yeah, I remember Lowell also. I always read his posts, as they were always enlightening.

discussion boards are tough creatures to run. admins want to keep things civil, yet most do not want to be censors, and rightly so. it's a tought line to walk sometimes.....

I feel a little respect goes a long ways. I think part of the problem is that many people like to hide behind nicknames and such. I don't think they feel that they have to behave in the same manner as if they were standing directly in front of somebody having a conversation because there identity is a secret.

Personally, I have far more respect for posters that have identified themselves fully rather than those who choose to hide behind nicknames. It's the same reason I always use my full name. I'm proud if it, I won't embarass myself, and I have nothing to hide.
