major hurricane forecast in SE Gulf of Mexico in 5 days

The national hurricane center is forecasting the current tropical depression to be a major hurricane in the SE Gulf of Mexico in 5 days. What is a little troubling besides that, is that the computer models are shiftng to the west...so that the center of the vary large errors in track is now pointed at New Orleans (if it does not bend after 5 days...the NHC does not forecast beyond 5 days...at least not on their web site...
New Orleans would probably flood now if it was hit directly by a category 1 or 2 hurricane...as levees are damaged.
