Oops Not Ready For Tsunami Report

Hi All,

If it had not been for the Hurricane Katrina disaster the CREW report today might not seem as important as it is. This report focuses on what went wrong in the State of Oregon after the June 14, 2005 M 7.2 Off Shore Oregon earthquake event with resulting very minor tsunami.

This report details a time line from when the earthquake occurred to the dissemination of information to officials, media and the public and the state of confusion that resulted for everyone. Essentially, had there been a serious tsunami people would have died. As to how many there is no way to tell, but maybe one hundred would have been the least in any case.

The good news is that everyone is alive and was ready to add their part to this strange puzzle and thankfully corrective measures are being taken and perhaps the next time around a better performance will be had by all.

If time permits, please go to the linked page provided and read this report. There is a benefit in understanding how the government divisions are set up to handle such report and what the public is expected to do as well.
