Hi Don,

It would not be difficult for anyone to see California's seismicity patterns are changing. The numbers of quakes from Central to Northern CA have taken a huge leap in the last week and I don't recall how many years it has been since activity from the North Bay to the north coast has been so fervent. Two small quakes that caught my eye today were just near the Presidio in San Francisco with one being on the SAF and the other on the San Gregario. That is a very uncommon set.

For those who may be fence sitters in purchasing earthquake insurance they should know if they live within 100 miles of Obsidian Butte all sales are off for the CEA and some insurers as well. The moritorium will last for another week. I hope people will start picking up the pace in purchases because we cannot be in a holding pattern for forever and it should be apparent to almost everyone; time is not on our side. Better to have your own insurance than to expect Homeland Security to hop up and bail your sorry .... out.

Here's a sobering thought if you haven't been down this road yet.

Those who suffered from tremenous hurricane damages can expect to have their homeowners insurance pick up the tab. But those who had flood damages are probably not going to be in great numbers as most people don't buy flood insurance unless a mortgage company requires it. So those in Florida, Mississippi will fare out in the long run, much better than those in New Orleans. Go figure huh? Those folks aren't getting a break anywhere.

I like the deep tremor thing. It's probably is alleviating the stress in the area and avoiding a large quake in the near future. Of course, that's just conjecture on my part. While Chalome could deliver up a 7.0 and probably a lot of folks would come out all right except for Parkfield, I still wonder when that 8.0 is going to arrive and what the results might be, just from a standpoint of curiosity. I wonder if it would trigger earthquakes around the state or perhaps only one not so far away? I guess you'd have to be a butterfly to know.
