Southern California The Mixed Bag

Hi All,

I've been checking the Southern CA maps tonight and as each time approached and I took another look, my level of concern is growing.

In my first viewing I was thinking of a Mogi Donut configuration and looking for something large in the middle, but I also gave thoughts to the Mogi being on the elipical, rather than the round. If it proved to be the elipical type somewhere along the string that runs from Hector out the coast could produce an earthquake in the 4's or greater. If of the round variety, I don't see any faults in the center that lead me to believe anything could arrive by that method.

Now viewing again later, I came to remember seeing Lucy Jones talking about something after Landers or Northridge that had a butterfly configuration in the quake patterns, so I'll keep an eye in that direction as well.

All in all with so many quakes in the whole of the area, it doesn't make me feel comfortable at all, and gives me pause to wonder if something in the 5+ category is about to make its presence known. Certainly bears watching.

Now back on the north end, down around Gilroy, Hollister an those environs I recall last year when someone said when the clustering starts occuring it reminds one of a pimple that is about to pop. As springtime approaches, and the same continues, I'd look for the Gilroy to San Jose area's to expect something a little larger in the 4.0 - 5.2 variety.

The one final area that has gone quiet is the Triple Junction. Two days ago I remembered a dream I had last year around the Pelican Bay Prison. In the dream I was inside and I heard the Emergency Broadcast System announce that a quake was coming. I asked if anyone else had heard the warning and no one had. So I told them to start preparing and they were ushering the prisoners out the prison for safety. While this very well could be a typical earthquake dream, there is one little element that gives me pause to wonder if it is. On my new Explorer the license plate letters are EBS. Going through my divorce I have often felt like I was inside a prison in my lack out outside activity. So this ones up for grabs. It is a real earthquake dream, or a warning to prepare to leave? I'll wait for the ear tones to arrive and then I'll know for sure.

More latenight musings of an amateur, lots of possibilities or maybe not.

Pat
