My understanding is it's basically the aftershock forecast.. nothing so wild as forecasting a 'big one' - more a visual of the aftershock messages they send out after a large quake.

BUT - I mentioned in a prior post that the public will holler when we do get a large quake that it wasn't 'forecast' - kind of a no-win situation and then the map will probably come down...

I will be VERY surprised if we see anything turn red before a large one..
