Hi Canie. There might be a couple of conditions where we could see a red area. In the past USGS has issued a warning when there was an M>5.0+ quake. They issued one 15 months and 2 months before the Loma Prieta quake. There were two M>5.0+ about 5 miles from the Loma Prieta. One was 15 months and other was 2 months prior to the quake. I think it largely depends on the area of an M>5.0+ which appears to be the point that USGS uses to issue a warning. I have been told to watch the area around the Rodgers Creek fault and if there are any large quakes in the area to start preparing for the major event. Guess it’s a wait and see thing as usual.
