Hello Penny...you must be a geologist...do you mean the route 154 over San Marco Pass above Santa Barbara? And, the Blue Canyon that is quite far east of there along the Santa Ynez fault (I'd be surprised if it was visble from 154)? I spent a day in Blue Canyon...and the north side of the poorly exposed Santa Ynez shear zone had really nice slickensides for left-lateral....with conjugate slickensides for right lateral. So, a little more evidence that this is a strike-slip fault at the surface, not a thrust fault (although you can always have associated blind thrust faults...).
