My experience with eartones is similar to that mentioned by Chris -- short, normal ones that I have never been able to associate with quakes.

My questions to Chris & Cathryn & Petra (or anyone else at large) are:

is it fairly common to be woken up by an eartone? (I have never noticed this)

is an 8 minute ear tone considered a rare wing-dinger eartone, or is it fairly common? (Cathryn mentioned one like that below but mine never exceed a few seconds. I do not know what I would do with an 8 minute one)
