am I spending your taxpayer money wisely?

I just spent over 2 hours posting here and looking for links. I've spent several times that much time since the earthquake posting and emailing error comments to CNN and NY Times. I am paid 50% time the last few months, and the next year, from your taxpayer money. I am supposed to be finalizing a manuscript for submission...on active faults, some are potential tsunami sources, near and through Los Angeles. I am also supposed to be providing 3D representations of faults to the SCEC Community Fault Model, and because of the paper have not had time to work on that. So, is what I am posting useful...either for information for John, or as science education for non-scientists, or as background for a letter I might write to EOS, or perhaps CNN actually read and acted on my online report of their errors. Or, is my time better spent working on my paper..?
OK, I'll work on my paper the rest of the day....
Chris
