I'm not quite that extreme Roger - but I surely don't want socialized medicine, or have to support a few millions who can 'work the system' rather than work at a job.. Did you know, that in California, all it takes to be disabled is to say you are a drug addict or an alcoholic? Immediate disability... not to mention the thousands of illegal immigrants that cross the border, use our medical facilities to have babies, and be born US citizens...

I do care about schooling, public safety, research, caring for the truly disabled and elderly... I was raised with a strong work ethic and I resent having to pay the way for a lot of people looking for a free ride.

You have to remember that I live in a state that has the highest taxes in the nation... I have to pay a premium to live in this gorgeous state - I just don't want to have to keep paying more and more and more....

3 years ago I had to write a check for over $700,000 to Uncle Sam - taxes on my parent's estate - my parents worked hard all their life, were taxed on all their incomes and when they died, they had to give another 55% over to the government... mainly due to the increase in property values...

I already have given and continue to give more that enough money to government funding - more than 50% of the federal budget is for social programs... more than 51.3% of the state budget is for education alone, 32.3% goes to health and human services.

When our country was founded, the purpose of the federal government was to "establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity."

Maybe if I moved somewhere like Nevada, where you don't have income tax, I'd feel better about it... California is twice Colorado's rates and almost twice Massachusetts.
