Well now that you bring my name into it, I'll give you my 2 cents....

First, since you are looking for a vote on EQFs status, I vote to keep him in. I don't see how I could possibly vote to put him out when again, he has never attacked me, antagonized me or intimidated me and my participation on this board in anyway. I don't understand what the drama is...if you don't like what he says, move on. Honestly everything he says is over my head. I click his posts, read a little, say ehh, on to the next one and thats the end of it.

I told Petra this a couple of weeks ago, the other things she says, and that you say too, are so much more interesting than you being mean and vindictative towards EQF. I think it is silly that you are going to leave. I mean, its so fifth grade. EQF has never done anything not nice to you. The EQF detractors say that EQF is in the way of saving lives and that his posts are frivolous.

But by the same standards, and be truthful, look at the facts. AFter Petras "YOu are going to have blood on your hands" post or whatever she said you have to stop and consider:

Over 45,000 people die a year in traffic deaths alone, many from alcohol related accidents.

Over 900,000 people in the US are infected w/ HIV/AIDS.

Millions are dying in AFrica from HIV/AIDS.

Over 900 people have died in IRAQ.

Over 400 people are MURDERED each year here in Los Angeles alone...

Earthquakes? Let me see, well in the last 15 years rougly 100 people have died in earthquakes in CA. A staggering low # considering the state has close to 30 million residents and when compared to other human disasters afflicting the world today. So the question I pose, what is the obssession here? It all seems so contradictory. You will never be able to stop earthquakes. I suggest you leave CA first before you leave this board if you are in that serious of a delusion about what earthquakes mean to this state. AND, if a major one does hit LA or SF in the near future and causes massive deaths, there is nothing any of us could do to stop it. In case you haven't noticed, most CAs could give a Sh__ about quakes in this state. I can't tell you in the last 5 years how many times through, everyone freaks out for like 5 minutes and then TOTALLY forget the episode the next day.

I choose to come on this board because I've had a fascination w/ earthquakes since I was a kid. Everytime I feel one I get a rush, thrill and a scare! I've tried to learn everything there is to know about them including all the articles all of you post here. But at the end of the day this board serves an educational purpose for me only. Nothing more, nothing less. I've been very entertained and have learned a lot. But I see for some of you there is a misguided emotional connection and for some, maybe your role here is not learn but to preach/teach only? Don't know...but like I said, its a shame if people leave on such petty circumstances.
